Mr. Maisner graduated from The Cooper Union College
of Art in New York City and studied at The Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris. He
is also a medieval scholar and expert in the art of medieval manuscript gold
illumination techniques and a historian of letterforms. He has lectured and
taught at the Pierpont Morgan Library, The Cloisters Museum, The Metropolitan
Museum of Art, and the Getty Museum. Mr. Maisner is also a contemporary
artist. His paintings are exhibited regularly in art galleries and
museums.
Bernard created the calligraphy and stationery for
the nuptials of Alexandra Posen, Creative Director of Zac Posen, and did the
calligraphy for Darcy Miller, editor of Martha Stewart Weddings Magazine. Mr.
Maisner has also been featured in television interview segments with Martha
Stewart on “Martha Stewart Living.” Bernard was interviewed
by Lara Spencer for ABC TV, and his work was shown in “The American
Wedding” on the A&E channel. Maisner’s work is reproduced in

Spiegel logo, Revlon’s “Revolutionary” campaign logo and
lettering for recordings by Whitney Houston, Mick Jagger and Barry Manilow.
Other clients include Ralph Lauren, Zac Posen, Microsoft, Saab, Clairol,
AT&T, American Express, IBM, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s and
Valentino.
Mr. Maisner’s hand can be seen writing live
on-screen in film and television. Feature films include writing as Daniel Day
Lewis’ hand in Martin Scorsese’s “The Age of Innocence,”
as Johnny Depp’s hand in Tim Burton’s “Sleepy Hollow,”
and as Sean Connery’s writing in “Finding Forrester,” directed
by Gus van Sant. Maisner created props for “Gangs of New York,” by
Martin Scorsese. Maisner also wrote as Leonardo Da Vinci for a Dateline
television special.

personality & author Joan Hamburg writes: “Maisner is
